[Fallen Earth] Review the Review of the first impressions

MMORPG has their first impressions of Fallen Earth up today. Let's give it a read shall we?

Players enter the game as in most games with the Character Creation screen. The level of Character Creation is outstanding. They have really done a great job of allowing the player to customize the look and feel of your character. There have been others that have said it, but really this truly deserves extra attention, the creation generation is great. Almost every physical feature can be tweaked and tattooed to you liking. You can really lose your mind here for quite some time. Although I was a more than a little disappointed that after spending way too much too time generating my character just to find myself covered in clothes. I didn’t choose that halter top for nothing. I’m sure there will be more revealing armor as the game goes on. (Yes, yes I am that guy when it comes to designing my character, if I need to look at it for an unknown amount of hours, I better like what I see.)

Character Creation gets a thumbs up... That's a promising start.

Crafting appears to have a major impact on the game. The resources of this world are limited so it is up to the player to help supply themselves with weapons, ammunition, and clothing. I shall not tell a lie; I did not spend any time crafting this round. What I do know is that the chat channels were full of people requesting and trading both materials and services. It should be interesting to see how much crafting is necessary in the game, and will being a master craftsman offset any player skills. Until you really delve into the AP system it will be hard to tell.

Crafting gets a thumbs up as well... It's continuing on a promising road.

Combat in Fallen Earth is going to take a certain amount of skill to master. There is no sticky targeting or auto targeting. Players will be forced to use the aiming devices of their weapons in order to target an opponent. When equipping a weapon the game takes on a whole new dynamic. Your aiming device will appear, and a whole new set maneuvering will be required (ducking, sidestepping etc). You will need to maneuver your aiming device on your target in order to hit them. No great feat for stationary targets, but when you and your target are both moving it gets a little crazy. More than once during combat did my eyes blur a little trying to keep up with what was going on. Fans of a fast paced motor skilled based combat system will not be disappointed.

Tweaked attacking ... We've all seen what happens when MMO's try to give the combat system a "tweak". I won't point any fingers :P So that get's a thumbs down from me.
