iPhone users are in trouble...

According to an article by WSJ.com, AT&T will soon be making changes to their data plans. Those plans are not going to make iPhone users very happy, as the iPhone is one of the most data hogging phones on the market... Mainly due to it's App Store. The article starts by stating:

AT&T Inc. plans to take steps toward curtailing excessive iPhone usage as it battles growth in both wireless traffic and perceptions of network problems.

The Dallas telecommunications provider said on Wednesday it will introduce "incentives" to encourage customers to cut back on their data usage. The company intentionally stayed vague about the plans because they weren't fully set, according to Ralph de la Vega, who runs the wireless and consumer arms of the company. More details will likely be available early next year; Mr. de la Vega said he will have more information "very soon."

A possible solution has been usage-based pricing, or a tiered structure that charges users based on how much data flows through their phones. Mr. De la Vega declined to further define the incentives, but stressed that the plans wouldn't effect a majority of its subscriber base. Roughly 3% of its customers make up 40% of the traffic for AT&T.

Mr. De la Vega did rule out usage caps, which AT&T has been experimenting with on its landline high-speed Internet service in select cities. "We're going to take a different approach to the landline model," he said.

You may not be downloading so many apps soon. People will not be happy about this, I can tell you that for a fact.
