According to Gamasutra the makers of the MMO Stargate Worlds, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, have announced an FPS based on Stargate. This new FPS already has a website and it's named Stargate Resistance. Here's a few screenshots to tantalize your senses:

Based on the long-running Stargate film and television franchise, Stargate Resistance itself is an online class-based multiplayer-only team-based shooter, in which the Stargate Command and System Lords factions battle in a variety of gameplay modes.

Stargate Resistance is a fast-paced and deadly 3rd person shooter for control of the entire galaxy!

The arrogant System Lords believe they are the true masters of the universe, and have begun a savage campaign to dominate and enslave the known worlds.

Stargate Command operatives are the first line of defense against this menace. Small teams of brave agents use the Stargate to travel about the galaxy and parry the thrust of these alien overlords.

As we reported in the past the companies involved in making Stargate World's have com under economic difficulties with the rest of the world. Gamasutra covered the same story stating that Chris Klug answered some of the financial rumors stating:

"We chose to remain quiet during those times, because, honestly, we often didn’t know what our future was day-to-day, sometimes even hour-to-hour. As a group we chose to not say anything until we knew something."

According to the FAQ on the official website this will be a PC only game. I might pick this one up. It looks more suited to me than an MMO based Stargate.
