Google employees were using MS Internet Explorer causing a breach

If you haven't heard ... Google was breached the other day by Chinese hackers. Today more news is being released about the attack.

The exploit comes from an issue with IE6. Yes, you just read that right ... Google employees are using IE6 to browse the web! The article states:

Thursday, Microsoft acknowledged that the IE exploit had been used in the attacks against Google and other major corporations. "We have determined that Internet Explorer was one of the vectors used in targeted and sophisticated attacks against Google and possibly other corporate networks," said Mike Reavey, director of Microsoft's Security Response Center (MSRC).

As a developer I can understand Google's response of:

"Actually, it's the norm within companies, especially technology companies, for employees to run multiple browsers,"

A lot of people still use IE6, and unfortunately when you are designing code you have to test for that. This is completely agreeable and understandable ... but Google that's for testing your OWN software. According to sources this is a flaw with CSS stylesheets, which confirms that the Google employees were browsing the internet using IE6 or 7. Nice.

Good luck with this Google. While you are battling this, please don't let me Google accounts get hacked! Okay, thanks.
