No longer are the needs for drinks, dinner, and a movie! Why waste the money when you can just throw a switch. Crimm you ask, what are you talking about?! I'm talking about the sex chip. It's a chip reported by the telegraph to help in anhedonia, an inability to experience pleasure from such activities. Apparently testing has already started as they discuss one woman that had a similar chip implanted that changed her from low sex drive and into a very sexually active woman. The telegraph reports:

The chip works by sending tiny shocks from implanted electrodes in the brain. The technology has been used in the United States to treat Parkinson's disease.

But in recent months scientists have been focusing on the area of the brain just behind the eyes known as the orbitofrontal cortex - this is associated with feelings of pleasure derived from eating and sex.

Before you get too excited though ... It's not ready yet. They say the technology isn't ready, due to the use of current wires, etc. The article states:

He added however that the current technology, which requires surgery to connect a wire from a heart pacemaker into the brain, can cause bleeding and is "intrusive and crude".

He continued: "When the technology is improved, we can use deep brain stimulation in many new areas. It will be more subtle, with more control over the power so you may be able to turn the chip on and off when needed.

It has an awesome name, the Orgasmatron, and could be ready in about 10 years. The article never clarifies whether it will be used to HELP with stimulation or give you stimulation, but I guess time will tell. Just think in 10 years or so you'll be able to get all you need from a switch that's implanted in your hip or skull or somewhere. I wonder if they'll make it a plunger type so people can really MASH that bad boy! :-) What do you guys think? Exciting news or WTF news?
