@jpasula couldn't use the code because he's a resident of Canada. After some discussion we decided to re-offer the code to those in the US. I did a re-random and came out to:
Looking at our spreadsheet ... Our winner is:
Congrats to @rogXue! Better luck to everyone next time and thank you all. We'll remember the country code issues in the next giveaway.

Okay here it is everyone. The announcement that everyone has waited for. The winner of the 1600 MS points from the Geek Pride Day giveaway
is... Wait before we get to that, let me tell you how I chose the winner. I took all the entries, which included: RT's, the mentions that were listed in the contest rules, and comments. I put those into a spreadsheet. I decided to allow multiple entries, and I removed my personal entries and plugs (@crimmFTW).
I then went to Random.org and generated a random number which came out to be:
That means our winner is:
Congratulations @jpasula! That's actually fitting, since he tweeted us the most and shared us with 360Junkies.
Overall we had 115 entries. Thank you all for your entires. The contest was such a success I have decided to do these on a regular basis, so please continue to follow us on twitter, facebook or subscribe to our RSS/Emailing list.
In celebration of Geek Pride Day I decided to put together today's post on the 5 Geekiest things on the internet. This one will be highly opinionated, so if you have some geeky things to share, please comment below! For those of you that don't know; there are multiple types of Geek. I thought about taking a stab at listing all the types of geeks out there: Gaming geeks, Anime Geeks, Tech Geeks, etc etc. I think this image sums it up pretty damn good:
Anyway, I think the best way to cover this celebration would be to find one thing in each of our wonderful categories that will best display it's geekiness. Tell me how I do in each of these categories: Anime, MMO, Tech, Gaming, Funny and Movies.
First up is Movies. This is a famous "70 minute Movie Review" by RedLetterMedia. Not only is it funny, but it covers a controversial movie for us geeks. That's Episode 1: Phantom Menace. Enjoy (I compiled it for your guys):
Next up is the Funny category. What geek doesn't love fail videos? I mean seriously? Watching people fail is what gives us geeks pleasure in life. Here's a compilation (playlist) of a giant pot of fail!
Rounding the next corner is the Anime category. This will be a difficult one, because Anime geeks are hard to please with their Sub vs Dub arguments, etc etc. :) I think the best way to represent Anime geeks is with Cosplay. Enjoy:
Coming up next is our loving and head shooting friends ... The Gaming geeks! When it comes to Gaming geeks one thing sets us apart, and that's gameplay footage. With the recent Halo: Reach Beta reaching 2.7 Million gamers; I think it's clear what gameplay footage we need to focus on today.
They are keeping this server running, so we can't forget about the Tech geeks. The Tech geeks and their Linux/Apple vs Microsoft arguments is going to make this another hard category to satisfy. I think this comic will serve it best:
At last but certainly not least we have what's gathering all the people around the world; the MMO category. This is probably the hardest category to fill. Why you ask? Because none of us MMO players can stick with just one MMO, nor can we agree on what movie, book, game, or meme should have an MMO based on it next. WoW is still the biggest from what I've seen from the numbers, so I think it only fitting to serve up "The Blind". In my opinion this is the best WoW/MMO video ever made. I hope you enjoy.
Well that's it for my Geek Pride Day celebration. If you have anything to add, please post below. If you like our content then please subscribe, follow us on twitter, like us on facebook, or just check back often for new content.
A status on the status of my videos and news posts. Also, I know that image has nothing to do with this ... but I had it laying around from the Newsletter Network days.
One of my new favorite 360 blog sites 360sync has a discussion up about the newly announced Modern Warfare 2 DLC. The post claims: "The DLC is a map pack that consists of 5 maps for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15)."
Doing a little Googling brought me to Major Nelson's site with a link to the podcast in question that also confirms the rumor. What do you guys think about this? Do you think this is them realizing the popularity of MW2 will allow them to charge so much? Let's see what you get for the 15 dollars:
Bailout - a multi-level apartment complex
Storm - an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery
Salvage - a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars
Crash - a war-torn urban environment (CoD4)
Overgrown - features a massive dry creek bed (CoD4)
What do you guys think? Gonna pick it up? Myself ... I've moved on to Bad Company 2 and other games. Let me know!
I don't know if you guys noticed, but last week was a rocky week for Geek Smash Me. I attempted to roll out a newer version of the site with all new features and a new look. Unfortunately, for some reason the new layout caused a tremendous amount of latency and other issues. I'm currently trying to tweak the site and play with the features in an attempt to bring the site back to a more colorful and geeky look. For now, please pardon my progress and let's revert back to the lighter and cleaner layout that we used to have.
If you have any questions, please let me know and thank you.
Also today, stay tuned for our first Youtube video as we start to roll out our Youtube channel.
Happy New Year everyone! I have some exciting news. To better reflect what we deliver, we have decided to change our name and look. You will now find us at http://geeksmash.me. We have tons of new features, like the one I'm most excited about... iPhone version. Now when visiting with your iPhone you will get a friendlier version. Our youtube channel will start getting some traffic soon too :)
There's much more to come. The site has just come online, and being the tinkerer that I am ... I've already started messing with things, and will continue to fix minor bugs over the next week. If you have any questions, you can reach me at my new email address. crimm@geeksmash.me You can also follow us on twitter @crimmftw or @geeksmash.
The new site also begs the question. Do you have geek news, views, reviews, and opinions to share with others? Let me know, and you can share it with the world.
