One of my new favorite 360 blog sites 360sync has a discussion up about the newly announced Modern Warfare 2 DLC. The post claims: "The DLC is a map pack that consists of 5 maps for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15)."

Doing a little Googling brought me to Major Nelson's site with a link to the podcast in question that also confirms the rumor. What do you guys think about this? Do you think this is them realizing the popularity of MW2 will allow them to charge so much? Let's see what you get for the 15 dollars:

Bailout - a multi-level apartment complex

Storm - an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery

Salvage - a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars

Crash - a war-torn urban environment (CoD4)

Overgrown - features a massive dry creek bed (CoD4)

According to an article by USATODAY Modern Warfare 2 is doing really well. Like we needed USA Today to tell us that :) According to the article:

Based on the initial sales figures for Modern Warfare 2, it's safe to say the Call of Duty franchise has done quite well.

In fact, Activision recently revealed the first-person shooter series has surpassed $3 billion in retail sales worldwide.

Earlier this month, the publisher announced the latest chapter in the series, Modern Warfare 2, set a five-day global sales record, grossing $550 million.

It's amazing how well MW2 is doing. From experience I can tell you that the game and the series is a ton of fun. According to Raptr (A new and upcoming IM and game tracking client):

What do you guys think? Are you surprised?

If you've played MW2 ... Which you probably should have by now :P then you've at least heard about the sketchy/controversial Russian level where you gun down innocent people. Seems the Russians (Took it getting delivered there for them to realize it :P) don't like that level!! *GASP*

Game Politics had this to say:

The Russian government is apparently not a fan of how the country is represented in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as all copies of the console version of the game have been recalled from stores.

Infinity Ward has also released a patch for the Russian PC version of the game which will remove the “airport” mission from the game entirely reports HellForge, citing a Russian gaming website. The mission in question features a civilian slaughter carried out at the behest of a Russian terrorist named Makarov.

Re-edited console versions of the game, once given the go ahead by Russian censors, could be introduced to stores within a month.
